In the depths of my heart, I gave my all,
To make her smile, to catch her fall.
Through good and bad, I stood by her side,
Shielding her from harm, my love was my guide.
Yet fate played its hand, a twist unforeseen,
Another appeared, in a love so pristine.
He won her over effortlessly, without a fight,
And now he takes the love that was once mine, out of sight.
Does it matter to her, my efforts, my care?
Perhaps not, for she chose a path so fair.
Bound by society's rules, she followed the norm,
Leaving behind the love that kept her warm.
Her happiness, her safety, her heart's true desire,
To find solace and love, set her soul afire.
And though I may grieve, losing her to the unknown,
Perhaps her happiness will bloom, in a love that's newly sown.
I was but a fragment of her life's grand scheme,
A small part of her happiness, it would seem.
Now I'm left to wonder, in sorrow I dwell,
Why did destiny choose this bittersweet farewell?
In the end, she found what she sought,
Choosing society's path, as she was taught.
I find solace in knowing, deep inside,
At least one of us found happiness, with pride.
